Education
In 2006, a group of healthcare professionals gathered during a Surgical Conference and started discussing a new concept for their profession in the operating room. They discussed the idea of creating a company to meet the needs of the surgical staff within the Surgical Department and Surgical Team Services, LLC was launched right here in Jacksonville, Florida.
STS recognizes that Registered Nurses and Surgical Technologists make up a large population the Surgical Department. But, what needs does the surgical staff have? If you ask Department Directors and managers, they want qualified staff to take care of the patient. Risk Managers and Administrators would agree. Don't we owe it to our patients?
Laws across the nation require a Perioperative Registered Nurse to be the patient’s advocate while in surgery. These nurses functioning in the circulating role in the operating room are licensed in their state as RNs (registered nurses). Not all nurses however, have the credential to be Certified Nurse of the Operating Room (CNOR). This voluntary certification is a competency certification exam administered by the Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI). Nearly 3,000 nurses volunteered to take this certification last year. Many CNORs are members of their professional organization such as AORN the Association of peri-Operative Register Nurses. The CNOR exam review classes are available and taught by experienced circulating registered and certified nurses.
Surgical Technologists previously known as operating room technicians have the option of earning their certification and become Certified Surgical Technologists. Graduates from CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs) accredited programs are eligible to sit for the Surgical Technologist Certification Exam. Laws in several states like Tennessee and South Carolina are requiring surgical technologists to be certified, it’s no longer voluntary if you want to work in those states. Intensive CST exam review sessions are available in a small class setting taught by highly experienced certified professionals.
The surgical team needs guidance and assistance with information about certification, the application process, and more importantly preparation to take the challenge of sitting for their certification board exam. Whether the Competency Credentialing Institute (CCI) for registered nurses or the National Board of Surgical Technologist and Surgical Assistants (NBSTSA) for surgical technologist; Surgical Team Services is here to provide Exam Review Classes for the CNOR exam and the CST exam.
STS recognizes the need of qualified nurses everywhere. The shortage of registered nurses is a crisis felt all over the country; and without new nurses there would not be specialized nurses such as CNOR nurses. This is why STS also offers new nurse graduates the NCLEX review classes. These classes are taught by experienced Registered Nurses with a BSN degree or above. These exam review classes are convenient and affordable.
